(30-04-2013) A two day workshop for Legislative and Executive members of the Sudan People Liberation Movement (SPLM) is under at Tourist Hotel Yambio with focus and emphasis on Leadership skills and Professional Development.

Speaking at the workshop, the Western Equatoria state acting chairperson for SPLM Comrade Bukulu Edward Mandeson who is also the Chief weep in the state legislative assembly said, south sudan is in a process of makingA history and precisely of building the nation.

He stated that with the American dream that America should be number one, should remain and retain that position is what makes America strong today, adding that America is not a one race world but of different ethnic group of people.

29th April 2013 (Yambio) The director of traffic police in Yambio, Western Equatoria State says it’s not lawful for traffic police officers to collect bribes from owners of motorcycles and vehicles who are involved in either accidents or those that have broken traffic rules and regulations.

He says such acts are not lawful and contributes to high rate of corruption in the state and south sudan, he added that any person who breaks the rules of traffic should immediately be taken to the police station for lawful actions instead of taking bribe from him.

The director was responding to rumors and allegations that traffic police officers collects bribes from motorists in their working stations along the roads in the town.

April 26th (Yambio) the manager of Yambio FM Mbugo Phillip William has been relieved off from his duty on Thursday by the state Minister of Information, Communication, Tourism and Hotels Eng. Charles Barnaba Kisanaga, replacing him with an interim manager John Kennedy.

Minister Kisanga attributes sacking the manager due to his incapability to execute his duties as a manager.

Yambio FM the only Government Radio which informs the community on government issues has been off air for a week now following power fluctuation, which resulted due to a technical problem with its transmitting frequency system which got spoilt.

April 26th (Yambio) the committee for Public Accounts in the State legislative Assembly headed by Hon. Albert Moudie on Tuesday summoned the Director General for the State Revenue Authority Wanga Lawrence Bilal to explain the performance of the state revenue authority  and clarify as to why the community does not benefit from the tax being collected from them on the local resources they have.

The committee said the performance of the revenue authority is not up to date because the revenue being generated is not realized by the community on how it’s being used.

Western Equatoria state governor Colonel Bangasi Joseph Bakosoro on Wednesday held the first direct talk with the citizens of western Equatoria state in Yambio to explain to them what the achievements of the government have been, the challenges and the ways forward, especially with the introduction of the austerity measures by the government of the Republic of South Sudan after the shutdown of the crude oil which accounts to 98% of governments funds for all it activities.

The program as organized by the south Sudanese network for democratic election( SUNDE) with support from the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) after a call by Governor Bakosoro for the event to be organized for him to brief the citizens face to face and allow questions from the citizens at the occasion on what they (Citizens) expect from the government.
